Morning gently tiptoed through the night,
then filled my world with effervescent light,
and at the window pane, I stare in awe ~
for while sleep came, a spring day came to call
and left her buds upon the trees. (oh, my!)
Now I kiss those chilly winter days goodbye ...
(Goodbye! Oh, yes, at laaasst, goodbye!)
And over there...
An eager sparrow flits from limb to limb,
overjoyed to be the early bird, that special one,
to get the worm at first hint of dawn ~
as darkness wanes, and day has set upon
horizon shining yellow.
And so, I think, I'll watch and wait a while ...
for sparrow's quite the clever little fellow!
And there...
A gray squirrel sniffs the air with twitching nose,
fluffing up his bushy tail, at play,
while dodging sparrow's swoops and subtle warnings,
as morning sunlight tells of spring's returning ~
displaying sprouts now green and curled abed, (sigh)
that soon will open and unfurl, (oh, my!)
and so, I think, I'll watch and wait a while...
enjoying every precious springtime moment. (smile)

Matty,
I like the images in this poem, none better than the opening line, which offers itself to a really nice aphorism: "Through even the blackest night, morning gently tiptoes" or, perhaps, "feels its way." I'll use this tomorrow with a public thanks to you.

I'm anxious to know if you and your family enjoyed your daughter-in-laws meal last evening. Were any of the senses working overime as you tried to process all the different combination of good smells? Have a wonderful day, Mattie Thank you for all the wonderful writing that you do for us. ~Anthony
Hi Mattie,
Fantastic view on the emergence of spring. I was finally able to spend some time in the yard yesterday and was able to spend a little time watching the robins and quail scurry about.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Roger
How lovely!
RB,
You are incredibly kind, and I hope you realize how much I enjoy hearing from you.
You are an inspiration!(smile)

Roger,
I'm so glad spring is back. Isn't it nice to get outside again? I'm looking forward to the warmer weather and the return of my flowers.
Our friend, Brenda(A Lifetime of Poetry), inspires me to write my poems of nature. I love her work.
Hope you enjoy your weekend, and thank you so very much for your kind and thoughtful comments. I always look forward to hearing from you.(smile)
Namaste,
Mattie

Indeed, I hope Miss Spring has permanently arrived in your part of the world! It is always such a delight when we realize finally the Old Man has succumbed for another year and lovely Spring and then Summer grace us with their presence. Your poem simply flows with the joy of the new season, and it is contagious! I feel like running outside barefoot to see if she has arrived here yet, but I know I would only freeze my feet in the recently fallen snow, lol! I'll simply take delight in your joy and images you have created for me as I read your words. Happy Spring to you!
Brenda, I don't know who is happier to see spring...me or you!(smile) The past couple of days have been chilly here in Ohio. I think the seasons are confused!
I did get those seeds planted...hopefully they'll grow enough by mid-May to put them in the ground.
You already know how much I thank you for your wonderful comments.(smile)...
