Last night was a night of dreams.
They told of cherry blossoms in spring,
rivers shimmering in the early morning sun,
as dandelion whispers spread a million wishes.
And they told of a hundred wondrous moments
that rested beyond my days of wakeful imaginings.
There were apple orchards fragrant with the scent
of ripening fruit hanging from heavy boughs, skies
glistening above junipers bursting blue, and
roses of every shade nestled in the wildwood.
I had never felt as close to God,
and heaven seemed a small stretch away.
I yearned to hold these images, etching them
into my heart forever...
Perhaps, this was the other side of life's window,
For life is a window with eternity on either side.
The glass merely a portal...
When morning roused me from slumber,
I searched for sleep to return me to this
dream of dreams. Of course...
Sleep retreated, and so did the glorious euphoria
the dream had evoked. Reality stepped into view,
ending my glimpse of eden.
And I met the day with my face
still pressed against the glass...

Dear Mattie,
Yet another wonderful poem.
I get the feeling that mortality is the subject at the heart of many of your poems and I think that you speak of it with grace, eloquence and moving emotion.
Thank you for giving us another wise and beautiful insight.
Yours with Very Best Wishes,
David.
Hello Dave,
What a pleasure it is to hear from you again. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!
You are right, many of my poems are about our own mortality. I think nature and life go hand in hand...so many similarities. I try to combine a little of each within my work. I thank you for taking time to read these poems of mine. It is much-appreciated.(smile)
Enjoy the holiday season,
Mattie
Dear Mattie,
I love this poem. It reminds me so much of a 'night of dreams' I had years ago. My Mother had passed and I wanted but a glimpse of where she might be. I watched as she climbed a long flight of stairs, as if she were a child skipping at play.
You have abundant talent; it is my treasure to read your works.
In loving-kindness,
Dixie
Such a lovely poem. Cherry blossoms in spring, dandelion whispers, I love that, 'dandelion whispers,' they are such a lovely flower, or most people view them as weeds, but I love that they whisper. When they whisper we know spring is truly here again.
How are you feeling? I hope well. And may you have many more lovely dreams.
Dixie, thank you for your wonderful comment. I was very moved by your thoughts on this poem. You caught a glimpse of what lies on the other side of that window!(smile) You are so inspiring...
Blessings, my friend,
Mattie

We can only imagine what glorious images we might see in heaven. Surely they will be magnificent when heaven becomes a reality at last for true believers.
I believe the images will be of whatever the individual loves and holds most dear. Each person will see different things. I know you are a great lover of roses. There will surely be roses waiting there for you! Your apple orchards will be fragrant and bursting with luscious fruit for the picking. It will be a calm respite from all the turmoil and pain each has suffered during their life, and it will indeed be glorious.
Your glimpse of heaven is delightful and welcoming. Thank you for allowing me to imagine and enjoy the beauty of your own personal view of heaven!
God's blessings,
Brenda
Brenda,
I can't tell you how happy I am to hear from you. It has been a long while now, and I've missed you.
I took part of this poem from my journal blog. Last winter I posted a different version of it. I reposted it here, putting it into 'poetic' form, and adding the part about the 'window'. I was really pleased you stopped to read it again here.
Thank you for visiting me, Brenda. You've made my day with your visit!(smile) Hope you are well, and that your holidays will be merry and bright...
Much love to you always...
