My emotions rise and fall,
spun like a fragile
spider's web
suspended between
dry, brown grasses of
a graying season...
Torn, over and over again,
undone by doubt and
uncertainty...
slowly rewoven
with silkened strands of
my own existence...
As I rest among barren trees,
and curve myself into fallow fields
to sleep, to dream,
I'm mindful of their restless
stirring...
aware of their yearning
for a season of
warmth,
a season of
living...
I'm reminded of the moth
whose wings beat intuitively
against the long night,
its heart in tireless quest
of a never-ending
desire,
its life balancing
on one gleaming lumen
of light...
And like the moth,
I wish that I could endure
the dark with open eyes...

I am so moved by this poem... I have read it over many times, finding more meaning each time.
Another quest ~ this time it is a sweet moth seeking the Light, "one gleaming lumen of light."
It is snowing here, they are predicting over a foot! If I'm home from work tomorrow, a cup of tea and a longer visit at your blog will be lovely!

Did you get that foot of snow? It is snowing here in Columbus, Ohio...has been all day! I have to say a cup of tea sounds inviting, especially on these cold, wintry days. Where is spring hiding?(smile)
The picture I've posted with this poem has been saved to my computer for quite a while. I found it on google images and have been holding onto it until I could come up with an appropriate poem. Thank you for commenting on it.

I lost my husband in July, 2007. It has been difficult these past few years, but I know you understand those difficulties. My heart goes out to you...

Life is filled with such moments as these, all beyond our control, sadly. We must struggle to recover and repair the pieces of our lives and continue on down the pathway of life. Even though we do continue (for what other option do we have!), we cannot avoid the effects of being once broken as you describe in your poem. Though we may recover, it is impossible to forget the great sadness of these moments. We leave a few pieces of ourselves behind as we journey onward.
Beautifully expressed and flowing with emotion, your words will surely touch the heart of every reader who has experienced such moments.
